Residents are left to count their loss as many were left dead in a massive fire explosion that rocked FESTAC axis in Lagos.
The sound of the explosion that subsequently led to a fire outbreak could be heard in FESTAC, Satelite Town, Surulere, Abule-Ado and environs damaged so many houses and cars.
With the cause of the explosion yet to be ascertained, the National Emergency Management Agency claimed that the fire was not caused by oil pipeline of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Tens of houses were razed in fire as well as Bethlehem Girls College close to the source of the fire.
In a swift rescue operation, the Federal Fire Service tweeted that its men are making efforts to get information on the incident.
“We are in touch with our men in Fire Stations around Badagry and Festac, we are trying to gather more information as regards the reported explosion in Lagos State, Nigeria. We are on it,” the fire service tweeted.
Rescue operation is still ongoing, as other emergency services have cordoned the area.
In videos shared by residents, they could be seen running for safety as some of the residents also made effort to pack some of their valuables from their houses.
