#CoronaVirus: Sanwo-Olu Visits Infected Italian, Assess Disease Control Centre
In ensuring the containment of the further outbreak of the Corona Virus in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the Infectious Disease Control Centre Yaba to assess the state’s preparedness.
The governor also visited the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where Italian man infected with Coronavirus was currently quarantined.
Sanwo-Olu’s visit came hours after the Italian national was moved to another ward following news report on the poor facilities and equipment maintenance at the former ward.
Sanwo-Olu inspected facilities within the premises as he promises to correct all challenges confronting health officials at the hospital.
During his visit, the governor expressed satisfaction at the commitment of health workers and professionals at the hospitals as he avowed that the state would do all it can to stop the spread of the virus.
“The Lagos State Biosafety laboratory in collaboration with Canadian government is engaging national, regional and international disease control agencies as well as stakeholders on a greater level of research and analysis,” the governor said.
He urged Lagosians to “remain calm, take their personal hygiene seriously as well as live in healthy, safe and secured environment.”
The governor, however, frowned at the increase in price of safety kits which included hand sanitizers, nose masks as he enjoined sellers not to take advantage of the situation to hoard products
